He lost hope that Jessica would ever be satisfied to settle in rural Pennsylvania and takes comfort in becoming close friends with Katie. However, it’s not an easy road as Jake is Mennonite and Katie has just been baptized. Her father forbids them to see each other, adamant that his daughter marry an Amish man.

  • I have been following the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series from Book One and was very excited yet sad that the 5th and final book in this series finally came out.

The story is about Katie and Jake. Katie has kneeled and taken her vows to become Amish 6 months before. Jake, who's grandparents are Amish, is Mennonite due to his mother leaving the Amish ways to marry her non Amish husband. But Jake works with the Amish and works with his grandfather. He an Katie get to know each other and start to care for each other which is forbidden in the Amish faith.

Katie's father is very strict and threatens her with shunning. Follow the story line to see if Kate and Jake do work out and whether Katie leaves the Amish faith or not. You will be sad at the end because you know that this is the final book in the series. You have met all the family members and see how each one interacts with the other.

I highly recommend this book. If you have not read the other 4 books, you still will enjoy this book but if you have you will see many of the other characters interspersed in this book.

Amy brings up a lot of questions that make you really think in the thoughts that Katie has about love and about God and believing and trusting in God.
  • I have read everything Amy Clipston has written and loved it all... I waited so patiently for this book #5 in a series I loved. While it redeemed itself somewhat as the story went on, I wasn't sure I would be able to get past the first chapter.

Why is that? Well, for starters, I live very near to an Amish community and have spoken with them many times. Once in a while they'll throw a PA Dutch word in with English (As I myself do, as well as others I know) but not very often... they generally speak either English language or PA Dutch. This does *not* bother me with the Amish fiction books I love so well... I've read nearly every one that's come out for the past 4 years... the Dutch words interspersed with English never bothers me a bit, but this one did. In Chapter 1 *alone* the word "heemet" was used *TWENTY TWO* times in the middle of sentences using English for the rest of the words. The Amish do not speak this way, they just don't. They don't use one PA Dutch word so often in the middle of an English sentence, and spending time with them for research would have indicated that.

That said, I sat here by Chapter 3 and wondered to myself if a ghost writer was involved here because it just doesn't sound like the first few books of the Kauffman Amish Bakery series. But even then, wouldn't an editor have requested a tone-down on the overusage of throwing these words in too often? 22 times with the same word in the first chapter? -(

I will most likely buy Amy's upcoming series but I will definitely be utilizing 's "click to look inside" feature before I actually buy.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this series and wish there were more! The author has improved as she goes and these stories were so special and enjoyable. I could keep the characters apart and not confuse them, as I have in other stories. Great job!
  • I loved this series. It really keeps you guessing. I had a hard time putting the books down. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Very intriguing. After reading the last book in the series " A Season of Love", I was little disappointed that there won't be a 6 th book. I would love to read more about Lindsey and Matthew and Katie and Jake. Katie and Jake have been through so much. It would be nice to have at least one more book in the series.
  • Amy Clipston is one of my all time favorite authors. I forget the time and just as I finish another book that I thought could never be better than the last I see the sunrise. Wonderful, refreshing, love stories that encompasses friends, families and a tender romance. I have been telling everyone I know about Any and these books. Thanks be to God for her talent.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed all five books in this series. Excellent storylines and characters. Held by interest. Excellent presentation of Christian principles at work in the characters lives.
  • This is an interesting and an excellent novel. The characters were well developed and the plot was complex, especially considering this was the last novel in a four book series.
  • I have read the previous books and have found them to be truly inspirational and I loved this one too.
